High Tatras are well-known mountains with many sports centres where you can practise summer and winter sports. The immense advantage of High Tatras is also the high number of hiking trails, scenic lakes, waterfalls and streamlets with crystal clear water. National park Slovak paradise is within measurable distance of High Tatras. Its magical nature is best presented on sidewalks full of ladders.
SUMMER
Nature in the vicinity (The High, Belianske and Western Tatras, Low Tatras, Slovak Paradise and nature reserves as the nearby PR Baba) provides tremendous opportunities for mountain and submontane hiking of broad spectrum of difficulty. Cyclists will be delighted by extensive network of routes. There are also bike rentals. The beginnings of trails in the High Tatras are within a distance of 10km.
Apart hiking and cycling in the mountains there are also many possibilities for water sports, rafting on rafts. The region is also rich in caves. The nearest one, Belianská Cave is just 25 km from the guest house, Ice Cave (Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa) just 30km.
You can add an adrenalin touch to your trip in Hight Tatras by riding an off-road scooter on the road from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec, which is provided during the summer time for the symbolic fee.
WINTER
The winter in High Tatras is rich in snow. If there is a lack of it, resorts are always ready to supply ski run by artificial snow. The most famous ski resort is 15 km away from the guest house and is called Tatranská Lomnica. Within easy reach of guest house are also many smaller ski resorts with ski instructors, ski rental and service. In addition to traditional downhill skiing the High Tatras provide many opportunities for cross-country skiing or snowboarding. When visiting the High Tatras, do not miss sledging on natural toboggan runs from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec (15km).
