Surrounding / HISTORY in surroundings
The guest house is located in a suburb of Poprad, just 500 meters away from the city centre. In the square, there is one of the oldest museums in Slovakia, The Podtatranské museum in Poprad. Here you will find a unique exposition of the fossilized imprint of the skull of prehistoric Neanderthal, found in Gánovce nearPoprad. The second exhibition is at the heart of Spišská Sobota (1000m from the guest house). Spišská Sobota is a wonderful place for a romantic evening stroll with a touch of history. There can be seen couples in a wedding dress on Saturday morning, as it is a popular place for photographers and future newlyweds.
Treasures of Spiš and UNESCO
In Poprad neighbourhood there are many monuments listed in UNESCO. One of them is Castle Spišský hrad that is the largest castle in Europe. You can combine a trip to the Red Monastery with rafting on the river Dunajec. When visiting town Stará Ľubovňa you will get a unique insight into the past. It is the only place in Slovakia where you can see in one place how subjects lived in open-air museum, bourgeois in middle-class house and lords at Castle Ľubovniansky hrad. Above the open-air museum rises the castle and it is interesting to observe the subjects from the bird´s eye perspective. We recommend you to visit the royal towns Kežmarok and Levoča.
